Kathmandu sufferred with an underperforming eCommerce site with a number of critical integration issues around fulfillment and database management. The site had been built on a custom platform, which was limited in terms of scalability and prevented the website’s growth potential.

Magento – The chosen eCommerce Platform:

The project commenced by planning an entire overhaul of the base eCommerce platform and choosing Magento, which is a secure, open-source eCommerce platform supported by thousands of developers around the world. In contrast with the existing custom platform, which was supported by a single team, this was a big improvement. Core features of Magento such as Content Management Merchandising & Segmentation, Business Intelligence Order & Inventory Management, Promotions & Coupons, etc were customised and integrated within the platform.

Improved User Experience

The brief was to plan a faster, easier to use, and better integrated user experience. The design team was able to put forward recommendations which improved the customer experience significantly, with conversion-focused UX improvements including better product display, infinite scrolling and one-page checkout.

Results that speak for itself:

One year after the new website launch, Kathmandu reported an increase in online sales by 55% and a record profit of $44.2m, up 22.6% on the year before.
